Introduction: American Party of Labor
APL

The American Party of Labor (APL) is a fairly new Marxist-Leninist organization started in the United States in 2007. The party platform was established at the Party's First General Congress on December 6, 2008, held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Although the party claims membership across the United States, the largest party activity seems to be in the Atlanta and Milwaukee areas. APL politics are oriented towards the working class, and most of the party's membership is comprised from this class.

The party draws its inspiration from the teachings of Marx, Engels, Lenin, Stalin and even Enver Hoxha of Albania. Apparently the APL version of "Marxism-Leninism" is closer to "Stalinism" and the "Hoxhaism" of Enver Hoxha and they call for revolution to end the rule of the rich "ruling class", but they seem more revisionist-like in their dialogs. The party represents several demographics, and both the Central Committee and general membership feature people of varied ethnicity, gender and sexual orientation. The APL is also very active in the anti-war movement, the unemployed people's movement, and other actions of the working class. The current APL General Secretary is Alexander I. Serpov.

APL activities include a webpage, a newspaper called "The Red Phoenix", and the Red Star Library where the organization maintains a collection of Marxist-Leninist texts assembled or published by the American Party of Labor to promote their version of Marxist-Leninist history and theory.

Description of the flag

The party calls its flag "The Grain & Gear", after the ear of grain and an incomplete gear wheel which are combined together with the star of Communism into their emblem.
